Milan (Italy). The Diversity Fjestival is a space dedicated to the freedom of speech, the creative spirit and the struggle for social justice. It's a coherent reaction to a world dominated by discrimination, war, greed and individualism; a great event that brings together art, culture and social involvement, orientated towards the deepening and the reflection about the multiple facets of diversity.

The Fjestival has been developed from an initiative from Convergence of Cultures, an organism of the Humanist Movement. The Fjestival has in itself what is needed to intertwine the experience of all the groups, associations, communities and individuals that in spite of working in what appears as different areas, share together the following principles:

• The affirmation of the equality of all human beings.

• The recognition of personal and cultural diversity as a kind of richness to be appreciated.

• The affirmation of the freedom of ideas and beliefs.

• The repudiation of violence and recognition of nonviolence as a method of action.

In a historic moment marked by the indignation and the rebellion of young people from different countries against an inhumane system, we, as humanists, reject any superficial and mechanical explanation of the state of things and assert that every change, every time has its origin in the depths of the human being.

These changes are born in the need for transformation, together with confidence in the ability to change reality through actions aimed to our best aspirations, including everybody else in the process and sharing with them. It gets expressed in the constant research, the discovery and use of new ever evolving, non-violent instruments.

Beyond the personal differences of each individual, the Fjestival shows the possibility and the need for knowledge and discussion, the need to set a common ground and join efforts, to act with joy, love for our own bodies, for nature, humanity, the spirit. The need to build at last, that so expected change that may be already written in the destiny of the human being.
